VHT Wrinkle Plus

How To:

1. Use VHT Aggressive Strip Fast Paint Remover (SP-575) to remove all dirt, rust, scale and paint. This can also be accomplished by sand blasting. Finally, clean with non-residue solvent (VHT SP-11) and allow to dry before spraying.

2. Mask areas not to be sprayed. Also protect surrounding area from overspray.

3. For best results, apply when parts, can, and ambient temperature is between 70F (21C) and 90F (35C).

4. For maximum adhesion and color consistency, we recommend applying VHT Prime Coat Sandable Primers. VHT Zinc Chromate Primer (SP-306 for Aluminum or Magnesium) and VHT Prime Coat Sandable Primers (SP-301 thru SP-305) for all other metals, within 24 hours of exposing bare metal.

5. Shake can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball rattles. Shake periodically between coats.

6. Hold can 12-16 inches from the surface. Apply at least three thick coats in a cross hatch pattern (first coat vertically, second coat horizontally, third coat diagonally). Allow at least 3 minutes between coats. Do not apply additional coats if the coating has wrinkled.

7. This paint dries very slowly. Although paint appears dry, avoid any contact with surface for at least 24 hours. Do not reassemble or corrupt surface for at least 5 days. Applying a heat source (such as a hot air gun or bake in an oven for 1 hour at 200F (90C) shortly after the last coating is applied) will cause the wrinkles to be tighter and accelerate the drying process).

8. Clear out sprayer after each use by turning can upside down and pressing spray button until no paint comes out.

9. If clogging develops, remove spray button with a twisting motion and clean. Do not stick pin or other objects in to can. Gently replace spray button with a twisting motion while top of can and spray button opening are pointing away from you.

Curing:

Bake at 200F (90C) for one hour, to accelerate drying process and for tighter wrinkles.
